Topi Incognitum

Derived from the Latin cartographical term for unknown land or for regions that have not been mapped or documented, Topi Incognitum is a series of imagined mental topographies. These pieces visually allude to both the appearance and process of geological or other natural formations. The mental landscape much like the topographical has peaks and valleys, moments of great pressure, upheaval, as well as vistas filled with the serene. Thoughts repeat in patterns while new thoughts or belief systems emerge and become dominant. Topi Incognitum reminds us that we are a collection of our experiences and that while some seem unpleasant in the moment, they create the texture and character of our present being.
