In Terrascapes the paradox of randomness versus intent is a salient visual element, represented as abstract and colorful compositions. This dualism is embodied through the process, particularly through the use of spatula instead of brush, and impasto technique; paint is applied, buried and excavated. Layering has simultaneously become both a way of building composition and symbolic of geologic time.
